Though the Miata is not as aerodynamically-inefficient as, say, a pickup truck, the Miata sure doesn't have a coefficient-of-drag (Cd) value that's worth celebrating over. Some of the Miata's biggest sources of drag are the front tires and wheel wells. Because the front tires do not sit within the frontal area covered by the front bumper, large frontal areas of tire surfaces are exposed to the incoming air. At medium to high speeds, large volumes of air hits the rolling surface of the tires and find their way around the wheel wells in turbulent fashion. All this creates drag and lift, which are very bad things to have, especially in a car like the Miata. The front bumper canards reduce drag and lift by helping to re-direct a lot of that air flow above and away from the front tires and wheel wells. It's best to use front bumper canards as a fine-tuning device - if you already have a front wind splitter and rear wing, but need just a bit more grip at the front tires, then the front bumper canards may be just what you need.

Many of the photos show the front bumper canards mounted on the Slick Auto Baby Monster's widebody front bumper. Don't worry, we've installed these canards on the factory bumpers without problem. If you have another brand's bumper, these canards may be able to fit.
